Columbus, Georgia is the urban center of commerce for a sixteen-county trade area of west central Georgia and east central Alabama.  The area contains more than 600,000 people and approximately $7 billion in effective buying income.

Utilities

Electricity

The Valley Partnership is prepared to meet the demands of commercial and industrial customers. Electrical power is provided by several major companies.

Natural Gas

The Valley Partnership is serviced by natural and/or propane gas. Natural gas is available in industrial quantities on an interruptible and uninterruptible basis. Natural gas is provided by Atmos Energy and in some communities by the municipality.

Water & Sewer

The Chattahoochee River supplies the entire Valley Partnership area with abundant water. Rates are competitive and negotiated on an individual basis.

  • A municipally-owned water and wastewater facility is the main supplier in the area.
  • Columbus Water Works has a plant capacity of 67 million gallons per day and possesses substantial excess capacity to supply water to new industries.

Telecommunications

The Valley Partnership area offers state-of-the-art telecommunications with electronic and digital switching capacity serving over 115,000 toll-free lines in the area. Leading edge technology, including computerized switching and fiber optics, allow businesses to move information at optimum speed.

  • Columbus has more fiber optic cable than any other city in Georgia outside of Atlanta.
  • Several international and financial services companies with demanding telecommunication needs are currently serviced in the Region.

Transportation

Highways

The Valley Partnership is in a unique position to assist positive expansion and growth. The current and planned highways provide excellent accessibility to local, state, regional, national and global markets, as well as providing convenient transportation avenues for suppliers and labor.

Air Services

Air Cargo services are provided by more than ten companies, including locally based companies that receive cargo at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. With a major air carrier flying to and from Columbus each day, traveling in the region is made easy. Delta Connection/Atlantic Southeast Airlines (ASA) serving the Columbus Metropolitan Airport provides connections to cities throughout the United States as well as access to international travel.

  • Delta Connection/ASA offers 6 inbound and 6 outbound flights daily.
  • Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (the world's busiest passenger airport, with more than 2,000 daily flights) is less than a 90-minute drive from Columbus.
  • Nearly 80% of the U.S. population is within a two-hour flight from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport offers daily non-stop flights to Europe, Asia, and throughout the Americas.

The Valley Partnership area is rich in rail service, offering a convenient and economical way to transport goods and cargo.  Each community in the Valley Partnership has rail service.  Providers include:
