The HUBZone Program
- Creates jobs in low-income areas
- Stimulates economic development
- Provides incentives to participating companies
HUBZone Program qualification criteria
Must meet all of the following:
- Be located in a “historically underutilized business zone”
- Be owned and controlled by one or more U.S. citizens
- Have at least 35% of its employees residing in a HUBZone
HUBZone Location Qualifications
Must meet one or more of the following:
1. Be a qualified census tract (as defined in section 42(d)(5©(i)(l) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986)
2. Be a qualified “non-metropolitan county” (as defined in section 143 (K) (2) (B) of the International Revenue Code of 1986)
Defined as meeting at least one of the following:
- Median household income of less than 80% of the state median household income
- Unemployment rate of not less than 140 percent of the statewide average, based on U.S. Department of Labor recent data
- Lands within the boundaries of federally recognized Indian reservation
